Basic income 30

Basic income will also help a lot to get a social fabric of cooperation and solidarity. With this we might be able to make the current welfare regime more reasonable.

There is also no doubt that in the absence of the income policy, the present welfare state will have to be significantly redesigned. Many of those currently in unemployment and poverty will be in a condition that would not be suitable to work. This might lead to many people's families staying out of the labour force and thus the state will have to make some concessions in order to secure a decent life for many of them.

The same question of how to make the labour market and social safety net more flexible and efficient will also need to take a certain time period. This is true for a lot of people around the world, whose standard of living has been growing much more rapidly than that of ordinary people of comparable levels of income.
