Artificial intelligence: the future of work

We have more and more computers at our fingertips, and the tech giants that provide the bulk of the computing power to power AI are developing better ways to analyze and train these devices—a feat that's been underway since the 1970s. At the same time, we've come to understand that artificial intelligence can already be used for a wide range of professional purposes, from machine learning to language translation. And a new class of machines will be ready to take on more complicated tasks, too.

This is all great news. But where AI will truly change jobs is in the realm of personal assistants.

Our personal assistants, the devices that are going to make our lives easier and our lives richer—think Siri, Alexa, Cortana—all aim to do one thing: make our lives easier. But the world's computers do something else, too. They are going to learn with us.
